Opera Kelowna Partners with the Vernon Proms for 2 Exquisite Evenings

Opera Kelowna is delighted to return to the stages of the Vernon Proms to share this unique art form with you.  Many composers wrote their best music when bringing a character to life by telling a musical story.  Join host Rosemary Thomson as she leads you through different eras of operatic brilliance exploring music by Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Bellini, Gounod, Bernstein and others. Thomson notes that “the combination of text and music, voice and instruments is unparalleled.  I saw my first Bohème when I was ten and cried all the way home.  I have been in love with opera ever since. The human intimacy combined with the theatrical grandeur simply lights up my life and I can’t wait to share these favourites with you.”

With exquisite singing by two of the Okanagan’s finest rising stars in the opera world and Kelowna legend Arnold Draper at the piano, this will be a magical evening of live music, an oasis of connection after a long isolation.
