Bass-baritone Alex Wedensky has been singing “with various degrees of success” since the age of three. Since starting classical vocal studies a few year ago, he has studied with Alexandra Babbel and attended masterclasses with Nancy Argenta, Monica Huisman, Lynn McMurty, and others.
Alex has sung various solo repertoire at all Vernon Proms seasons. He is one of the founders and a dedicated supporter of the festival (often to his own detriment, jokes Alex).
Alex’s solo operatic performances include the leading role of “Papa” in James Leonard’s opera Maria Chapdelaine. His engagements with the Kamloops Brandenburg Orchestra include singing bass in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Handel’s Messiah, In 2022 and 2023 Alex performed with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra as a baritone soloist in Faure’s Requiem and Raminsh’s Gloria. Most recently, Alex performed as Pilate and as Bass soloist in Bach’s Passion According to St. John with the AUA Chamber choir.
He is a vocal soloist with Early Music Okanagan. He has also sung with Opera Kelowna – as a Customs Officer and chorus member in La Boheme, and with Okanagan Symphony Chorus.
