Kenda McDermott is in her final year of the Masters program in Opera at UBC, under the tutelage of Nancy Hermiston. Since her role debut at UBC in 2021, Kenda has performed in every season. Her highlights include the role of Gretel in the children’s production of Hansel and Gretel in 2023, and the role of La Fée in Cendrillon in last year’s season. This past summer, she performed in the Czech Republic as the First Woodsprite in Dvořak’s Rusalka with the European Music Academy. Most recently, she played her final role at UBC as Pousette in the Massenet’s Manon, a collaborative production with Opera West Society.
