Wenwen Du

About

Wenwen Du is a highly acclaimed Canadian pianist, known for her solo and collaborative
performances. She frequently performs with tenor Ian Bostridge, earning international
praise for their recitals. The New York Times wrote that she was “superb [in their]devastating concert” of music of World War I. Their recent 2025 performance of Schubert’s
Winterreise in Guangzhou, China, was highly acclaimed. Du has appeared at prestigious
venues such as the Park Avenue Armory, Cal Performances, and the LA Philharmonic,
where she participated in a unique recital combining Schubert’s music with Samuel
Beckett’s texts. She has collaborated with notable artists like violinist Caroline Goulding and
soprano Julia Bullock, and premiered Dr. Jacquline Leggatt’s piano work this rabble world
in Vancouver.
In addition to performing, Du serves as an assistant conductor and principal coach for opera
productions, working with organizations like the Tianjin Opera House and Opera Australia.
She is an adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where she coaches
and collaborates with UBC Opera. In 2024, she co-founded Nebula Performances in
Vancouver, a center dedicated to showcasing renowned artists and nurturing young talent.
As artistic director, she curates concerts, masterclasses, and workshops, including the
Chinese Art Song Recital, which promotes Chinese music traditions in Canada.
Born in China, Du trained at the Vancouver Academy of Music, studying with Lee Kum Sing.
She further honed her skills at the Franz Schubert Institute in Austria and the Britten-Pears
Young Artist Programme in the UK. Du continues to perform and inspire through her work at
Nebula Performances and her collaborations with leading musicians worldwide.
