Opera Kelowna welcomes applications for our emerging artist training program, Valley Opera Summer Intensive (VOSI). Featuring a faculty of leading artists from across Canada, the program offers holistic training for emerging professional opera artists. Instruction includes private voice and body mapping lessons, individual and ensemble coachings, master classes, as well as group classes in acting, diction, movement, choreography, and body mapping. In 2025, we are offering classes in stage fighting, and training in stage intimacy.
All VOSI voice participants will perform in Opera Kelowna’s annual, professional, mainstage production (La Traviata) as chorus members, and/or comprimarios. Cover opportunities are also available. Other performing opportunities may be available.
Additional professional development sessions may include grant writing, networking opportunities, working indie-opera contexts and project development.
Program fees are $1600. There is no application cost.
Housing will be provided at a nominal cost to successful applicants who required it.
Some scholarships will available.
